Privacy Policy
Your videos stay yours.
Effective 6 October 2026
- Vimera collects no data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
- We run no servers. Your videos, streams and camera picture never reach us.
- Vimera only connects to the stream addresses you enter, and only accepts the encoders you point at it.
This policy covers Vimera for Mac (the “app”), including the Vimera Camera it installs, and Vimera Audio, the optional microphone driver (the “driver”). Both are made by Dragos Panoiu (“we”).
What we collect
Nothing. Neither the app nor the driver sends any information to us or to anyone else. They contain no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, no advertising, and no third-party code that phones home.
Network use
Vimera only uses the network for what you ask it to do:
- Stream URLs: when you enter an HLS, RTSP, SRT or HTTP address, the app connects to that address to play it, the same way a video player would. Whoever runs that server sees the connection, as with any stream you watch.
- RTMP server: if you turn it on, the app listens for an encoder such as OBS. By default it accepts connections from this Mac only; you can allow devices on your network. Encoders must present your stream key.
The video and sound Vimera plays go to the Vimera Camera and Vimera Audio on your Mac. What the apps you choose them in (FaceTime, Zoom, Teams, Meet and others) do with that picture and sound is governed by those apps' terms and privacy policies, not ours.
What stays on your Mac
To work, the app keeps a little information in its own storage. It's never sent to us.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| The last video file you chose | A reference macOS grants to the file you picked, so the app can play it again after a restart. The file itself isn't copied. |
| The last stream URL | To reconnect to it. |
| Your settings | Output resolution, frame rate and mirroring, the RTMP port and stream key, and whether the camera was on. |
Deleting the app removes everything it stored.
Permissions
- Camera extension: macOS asks you once to allow the Vimera Camera, in System Settings. It shows only what the app sends it.
- Files: the app can only read the video files you choose in the Open dialog.
- Administrator password (driver only): the Vimera Audio installer asks for it, because audio drivers are installed for all users.
Apple
The app is distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple may share anonymous crash reports and usage statistics with developers if you've chosen to in your Mac's settings (Privacy & Security ▸ Analytics & Improvements). That is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. We don't add anything to it.
Children
Vimera isn't directed at children and collects no information from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If we ever wanted to collect data, we'd ask you first in the app. We have no plans to.
